Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 6, 2026
somethingweird.today ("we", "us") is privacy-light by design. We don't have accounts, and we don't collect your name, email, or contact list. This policy explains what little we do collect.
What we collect
- Analytics (Google Analytics 4). We use GA4 to understand how the site is used — pages viewed, taps, approximate (city-level) location derived from your IP address, and device/browser type. GA4 uses cookies. We run Google Consent Mode; analytics storage is enabled by default and advertising signals are disabled. We do not use this data to identify you personally.
- On-device storage. Your preferences (city, filters) and which spots you've engaged with are saved in your browser's
localStorage, on your device, so we can remember your defaults and avoid repeating suggestions. This never leaves your device and is never sent to us. - Approximate location. Our server may read a coarse, city-level location from your network connection to suggest a nearby city. It is used in the moment and not stored.
- Invites. When you invite someone, the invitation is sent from your own Messages or Mail app via a link. We never see your contacts, the recipients, or the messages.
Cookies
The cookies on this site are set by Google Analytics (e.g. _ga). You can disable them in your browser settings or install Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
How we use it
Only to understand usage and improve the site. We do not sell your data. Analytics data is processed by Google under its own terms.
Advertising
We do not currently serve ads. If that changes, we will update this policy and disclose any advertising cookies before turning them on.
Third-party links
Listings link out to venue websites, source pages, and Google Maps. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we don't control.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Your choices
Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to access or delete personal data. Because we hold little to no data tied to your identity, the simplest controls are your browser's cookie settings and clearing site data. Questions: [email protected].
Changes
We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above will change accordingly.
